Workers at animal shelters encounter tons of adorable and heartbreaking pooches. But among the oddest ones who came into the Riverside County Animal Services was this white pup inside a cereal box. A woman found the adorable Maltese-Yorkie mix abandoned at the local park and decided to drop the pooch off at the shelter.
But why the woman put the pup inside a Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries cereal box remains a mystery. When the shelter staff finally inspected the little cutie, whom they named Razz Berry, they found out that the Yorkie was full of fleas.
So to make her more presentable to potential adopters, they got rid of Razz’ flea problem and made her feel at home in the shelter. When the pooch adjusted to her new environment, the staff found out that she was actually pretty bubbly and friendly. She loves sashaying around the hall and wasted no time in winning the hearts of her caretakers.
When the shelter posted Razz Berry’s cereal box photo online, it immediately went viral. The post was shared a couple of times until it reached the Sheet family who instantly fell in love with Razz. However, they were hesitant to apply for her adoption since they were still mourning for their late dog, Ginger.
After considering the adoption several times over, James, Teresa, and Hayden Sheets finally decided to apply. Little did they know that they were not the lone applicants for Razz Berry’s adoption. To make things fair, the shelter held a lottery for the lucky owner who would take home the pooch.
When the winner was drawn, the Sheets family couldn’t hold back their tears when they learned that they won. It was as if Razz Berry was fated to be with them. Now, the cereal box dog has a home to call to his own.
