It’s not always easy to make friends. There are times when people don’t want to be bothered. There are also times when they are not interested in making new friends.
When things like this happen, we tend to distance ourselves from them and leave them be. The dog in our story, however, wouldn’t take no for an answer.
A Labrador Retriever was filmed interacting with a boy who had Down Syndrome. The video shows how the sweet dog won the boy over by her gentle persistence and became her friend.
In the video, the boy could be seen sitting on the floor, looking curiously at the dog. Slowly, he inched his way toward the dog, who lay on the ground quietly as she watched the boy come closer.
When he was a few inches away from the dog, the boy stopped moving and sat on the floor. The dog, hoping to coax him to come near, crawled toward him slowly until her paws could reach his feet. Then she gently lay her paws and head on his feet as if inviting him to play with her.
However, the boy moved away instead of playing with her. While sitting down, the boy slowly made his way toward the wall, where he retreated.
The sweet retriever went near him, refusing to give up. She wanted him to be her friend, so she extended her legs once more until her paws touched his feet. Somehow, the boy understood what she wanted; he touched her paws gently.
The Lab seemed to enjoy that the boy was slowly opening up to her. She rolled on her side, hoping to play with him. Unfortunately, the boy retreated again farther near the wall.
But the dog couldn’t be stopped. She persistently tried to win him over with her playful and affectionate gestures. Eventually, the boy went near to touch and to hug her.
The dog reminds us that no matter how much people avoid or reject our attention, our persistent display of affection will melt them. At the end of the day, love always wins.
