A lot of dogs living in shelters have experienced abuse and neglect their entire lives that they develop trust issues with humans. Most of these dogs fail to establish a bond with humans that shelters eventually give up on having them adopted and decide to put them to sleep. It’s unfortunate to think that these dogs could’ve been great pets if given enough time and patience.
It’s no easy task to win over the trust of dogs. However, once you succeed in winning over a dog’s trust, you’ll have a loyal friend for life who will unconditionally love you as long as they live. All it takes is love and patience, and a rescue dog named Pudge serves as a great example.
Pudge was about to be euthanized because of his inability to socialize with people. He didn’t trust people and feared to be around them. No one was adopting Pudge because of this, which is why the shelter he was living in decided to euthanize him instead. However, an adorable photo of Pudge made it to the internet and was seen by a woman named Melissa.
Melissa fell in love with Pudge, and when she learned that Pudge was soon going to be euthanized, she stepped in and volunteered to foster Pudge. Melissa soon learned why Pudge was being put down. Pudge was shy and was closed off to humans. Pudge didn’t want anything to do with her, and all he wanted was to stay inside a cage.
Melissa felt that Pudge’s situation is really sad. However, she didn’t give up on him. Her kids started spending time with Pudge. Melissa, along with her kids, started showing Pudge what it’s like to be loved. Melissa’s kids started singing to Pudge, and something beautiful happened. Pudge began to sing with the kids by howling.
Pudge suddenly opened up and showed his true self to his new family. Melissa knew that she couldn’t imagine her family’s life without Pudge. So, Melissa decided to adopt Pudge permanently. Pudge still loves to sing, and he now loves to cuddle and play with his loving family.
Thanks to Melissa, Pudge became part of a loving family. Melissa encourages everyone to be patient with the dogs they rescue. They may be reserved and even fearful at first, but with love and patience, they’ll soon learn to trust their new family and eventually show their playful side. Here’s an adorable video showing how a woman’s patience and love rescued a sweet dog.
