It took six insanely long years for Freya to find her forever home. Dubbed as Britain’s loneliest dog, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix can only thank her lucky stars for helping her find a loving owner. Speaking of stars, she earned one when she appeared in a Hollywood blockbuster movie! Perhaps the long wait was worth it, after all.
A lucky break for the lonely dog
Freya has been living in the Freshfields Animal Rescue Center since she was a baby. Eighteen thousand potential owners dropped by the shelter, and each time, she hoped that they would bring her home. Her heart was crushed whenever these shelter guests overlooked her. All she wanted was to be part of a loving family.
The shelter decided to help Freya by letting her guest on Good Morning Britain. Interestingly so, Michael Bay was watching the show that morning, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix enamored him. He reached out to the shelter and told them that he wants her to be part of the fifth installment of the movie, Transformers.
A ticket to her forever home
Since she was cast in the movie, more people have paid attention to Freya. Those who drop by the shelter look for her so they can greet her and play with her. The volunteers at the shelter believe that Freya is ready to let go of her title, “Britain’s Loneliest Dog.” They are confident that her forever family will show up once the movie hits the big screen. Michael Bay also said that he’d welcome Freya to his home if no one adopts her.
The volunteers are also hopeful that Freya’s appearance in the movie will change how people perceive her breed. People see them as big, scary dogs when the truth is, they are gentle and loving. Watch Freya’s video here:
