Dogs can be like humans when they are thankful for the things that people do for them. Like this dog in North Charleston who was very thankful for a firefighter who rescued her.
One day, some bikers were cycling on a trail. While traversing, they heard what sounded like a whimper. They investigated and found a dog that was trapped under some rocks. They immediately called officials about it.
Firemen and the police came to the scene to work on the trapped animal. They had no idea how the dog got trapped under those rocks.
Captain Paul Bryant works with Engine 201 and he was there to rescue the dog. He started working on the rocks to free the dog. When they were able to make a hole, they reached in to free the animal. They brought a puppy out.
Paul knew that the dog was scared. So he gently took the puppy out and made sure that it was all safe.
Most of the time, when animals are rescued, they would show fear or anxiety. But what surprised Paul and the rest of the rescuers was that the puppy did nothing of the sort. In fact, he showed gratitude which is very unusual for rescued animals.
How the dog showed his gratitude? Well, he had jumped a lot when his rescuer put him down. When he was carried by Paul, he also showered him with plenty of licks and kisses. He was just showing how thankful he is that he has been taken out of that rock trap.
I guess the puppy just was able to understand what was going on. He was rescued and he did not need to spend his time underneath those rocks that kept him trapped. He also knew that he was not going to get harmed by his rescuers.
