Johnny Mathis just got home to his apartment building after work when fate called upon him to save a life. The incident happened so quickly. However, thanks to his heroic instinct, what he and the dog owner feared was prevented.
It all happened moments after Johnny stepped out of the first floor’s elevator. Johnny came from the underground garage and was on his way to his unit. He chanced upon his new neighbor, who was about to board the carriage together with her pup on a long leash. Suddenly, the unthinkable occurred.

When the neighbor stepped inside, she did not realize that her dog did not follow. As the door closed, the pup got trapped outside with her leash still tethered to her. Johnny saw the situation at the last second and tried to call the owner’s attention. However, it was already too late.
The elevator started to rise. So, Johnny leaped into action. Thankfully, he was able to unbuckle the collar from the leash just in time before something tragic happens. The dog was unharmed and unaware of how close she was to death.
Johnny said that he could hear his neighbor screaming during the entire time. The woman was even in tears when she came back down. She was completely shaken up. The pet mom hugged Johnny and told him how thankful she was.
According to Johnny, someone else in the elevator had already selected their floor when the pup’s owner entered. Because of that, she had very little time to stop it after she realized that her dog was not inside. Fortunately, Johnny was there to help.
Johnny saw how much the owner loved her dog. It was nothing but an accident that happened in a second. Johnny was thankful that he did not freeze up and saved the dog right on time. As he said, dogs are family.
