Someone called animal control about a dog who has wandered into their yard. The dog looked terrible and looked like it was burned.
The puppy was tiny, and about five to six weeks old. It was so light too that it only weighed four pounds. The dog was named Pixie.
Pixie was then picked up and brought to a shelter. When Daphne Bragg saw her, she knew that she wanted to bring her home. Daphne became Pixie’s foster mother.
Pixie has Demodex mange, which makes her look like she was burned. She has been scratching herself, and this created scabs and sores. When Daphne brought Pixie home, that’s where she got her first medicated bath.
Since she is so tiny, she bathed on Daphne’s sick. It’s the cutest thing to see. Because of the medication, some of her hair started to fall off. She looked more bald before looking better.
Pixie’s hair slowly grew. About a week or two after getting Pixie’s first medicated bath, she was starting to get lots of hair. In about a month, she was almost covered with a beautiful fur coat.
While under her foster mom’s care, Pixie has also learned social cues from his foster siblings. They have been nothing but welcoming to Pixie.
One dog, in particular, has been teaching Pixie all that he knows. That’s Elliot. Elliot was once like Pixie, tiny and a stray.
Elliot has been assisting Pixie to go through her everyday life. Pixie is a fast learner and has learned a lot from Elliot. His skin is not the only thing that is healing. Her heart is improving, as well.
Her transformation has been gratifying for Daphne. It makes fostering worth every effort. Now, Pixie found the perfect family. She has learned how to love from her foster community. She is now applying everything that she has learned with her forever family.
