January in Pennsylvania is usually a very cold month. Despite the freezing weather, a dog was out in the cold for five days in a row in a park in Pennsylvania. The residents in that same neighborhood noticed that the dog had been in the same spot for days, apparently waiting for something. They soon realized that the dog had been abandoned by its previous owner, and had been waiting for her owners to return to fetch her.

Concerned residents attempted to catch the poor dog – to give her warmth and shelter, but she was incredibly elusive. On the third day, residents contacted the Speranza Animal Rescue for help. Janine Guido from Speranza Animal Rescue immediately arrived at the park, but it took her a couple of days more before she finally caught the poor dog – it was an extremely difficult task.

During her first few encounters with the dog, Janine fed the abandoned canine some food from her hand. Whenever she attempts to put a leash on the dog, the latter runs away. But on the dog’s fifth day of waiting, Janine finally got the break she deserved. Watch the video below as Janine explains how she managed to catch the dog, whom she had named Carla:

According to the vets who examined her, Carla is a senior dog of around ten years. Possibly due to her abandonment in the park, Carla was underweight. The dog didn’t have any idea at all that her previous owners had abandoned her, and had been waiting in the park out in the cold for her owners to come back. It’s a sad story, but at least Carla was taken in to be cared for by people who will genuinely love her and care for her more than she deserves.
